Hi everyone,
I would like to wish everyone a very wonderful and healthy New Year. The Hageman Foundation has been working hard to bring everyone the most current, accurate, and factual medical information available concerning MEN 1. While our website and organization will focus specifically on MEN 1 and its complications, we plan to be a resource for people who need a Whipple Procedure (pancreaticoduodenectomy) and Pancreatogenic Diabetes (diabetes due to having the pancreas removed).
The Hageman Foundation will help facilitate a MEN 1 Seminar in the summer of 2011 with current plans for a Midwestern location at a major medical center. This informational seminar is long overdue and desperately needed in the MEN 1 community. I am working on the most affordable accommodations in the area and am attempting to obtain grants and financial support to diminish registration costs. We will not only be presenting medical information but other classes (insurance issues, pharmacy information, and genetic education ). My husband, John, would like to get together with your significant others to form a support group. We all know with MEN1 there are a lot of caregiver responsibilities and we would like to acknowledge these wonderful people and provide them with an outlet to vent some of their feelings in a open atmosphere.
I am hoping to make this an annual event and a time we can actually meet each other face to face. I have e-mailed and spoken to many of you and appreciate all of the support and great comments over the past year.
Do you have any ideas or thoughts? Send them my way!
Here is what I am working on:
We will be adding a blog feature that will be monitored. I am working on adding a Pharmacist section to answer your medication questions. He will also be writing about some of the medications we take on a daily basis. We are also working on developing a medical articles section, and I am trying to get a medical dictionary, on the site, so people without a medical background can easily look up the wording of the posted articles. We have gotten several physicians that are interested in providing their latest medical articles and research to foster better patient education and create more public awareness concerning MEN 1. We are very proud of the fact that all information posted on this site is read and re-read several times by several medical experts to be sure that the articles posted are current, factual, and helpful.
Have A Happy and Healthy Winter!
Sincerely,
Linda Hageman, RN
